I found a sign-up sheet in some school mail that I got. It was Burlington Baseball League. I'm signing up for minors.

It's not really coach pitch or little league. It's a mix between. Sometimes they have machines that pitch and sometimes coaches pitch and sometimes kids pitch to kids. Some of deciding to play baseball is because of my New Years resolution to try a new sport this year. I usually play spring football, but I've never played baseball before so I decided to give it a try. I played t-ball before but that doesn't count. The reason I didn't play baseball for so long is because my dad beaned me in the funny bone, he beaned me in the leg, he beaned me in the shin two times, so after that I was in a lot of pain. It was a bad day.
Today I went to the preseason warm-up. It's basically where you just play catch and then coaches throw you pop flies and then - this is the best part - you go home. (I meant that to be sarcastic. I didn't want to go home.) I had lots of fun. Even though the ball went over the fence a bunch of times and I had to go get it because I was the one standing by the fence. My dad didn't bean me once today. That was probably the best part of my day. He was too busy playing with my little sister. They were playing catch. He didn't bean her either.
See you later America and the rest of the world!
For the record: beaning you only makes you stronger. One day, when you're playing shortstop for the Red Sox, you'll thank me.
ReplyDeleteZach,
ReplyDeleteYou started baseball - that's SO great. I loved playing ball when I was young. There's nothing like the feel and sound that the ball makes when you hit it just right with your bat. I hope you have fun playing.
I always thought that getting beaned is when you get hit in the head - in the bean...I may be wrong.
What position are you going to play? I hope you are still playing when we get to Billings to see you in July. Hanny told me that your birthday is in July. What is the date?
That's all for now, my favorite sports nut. Keep writing your blog. I love reading it.

Woohoo! Baseball means spring! Excellent news, Zach. I will have to show you a picture of me the time I got hit in the eye by a pop fly from a pitching machine. It was swollen shut for a week! Obviously you have better hand-eye-coordination than me. Have fun!
